How it works

How to steps

Submit your story/stories or some sample chapters along with a brief outline of your story. What made you write the story? What do you hope to achieve? What age group is the story aimed at? Do you want any illustrations? Rest assured that everything will be treated in confidence.

How to steps

Peahen will review your manuscript and provide a publishing plan tailored for you, outlining a timeframe and fee. This will include the costs of editing the text, the book and cover design, any artwork costs (if required) and proofreading. Peahen will then quote the printing costs. Peahen uses several printers to keep costs competitive.

How to steps

On agreement of the costs, a contract will be raised between the Publisher (Peahen Publishing) and the Author (you). If artwork is required, Peahen will liaise with you to get the right artist for your story, and then raise an Artist Agreement. Peahen deals direct with the artist at all times.

How to steps

Peahen will design your book and send you rough layouts in PDF format for first review. This stage is to look at the font, text size and visual layout so that you can get an idea of how your book will look. On approval, Peahen will then bring your story to life!

How to steps

Peahen will send you a complete book in PDF format for final review. Peahen will make any final amends required and get the book professionally proofread.

How to steps

Print-ready PDFs will then be supplied to the printer who will send Peahen a colour proof. You will be sent a copy of the proof in the post for final sign-off. On approval, the printer will be ready to go and your book will soon be delivered to a very happy customer – you!

What next?

Peahen will publish and print as many copies of your book as you wish; there is no minimum print run. We will allocate an ISBN to your book so it is available for selling. Whilst Peahen doesn’t market and sell the books itself, we can offer advice and have contacts within the publishing industry.
